Number Flash Cards

Wow!! Week 3 is actually over, and I have to send progress reports home next week.  Have we really been in school that long???  Today we worked on identifying and ordering numbers 1-10.  I made cute number flash cards to match our "Star" theme in the room.  I also included star cards for matching!!  These kids are flying.  Most of them didn't have any problems with 1-10....I better get started on 11-20!! :)  These card are available on my TPT page.

God's Love and Lying

Lying is a difficult thing to teach.  I want to explain to the child that this is one of God's Commandments.  We can not lie if we want to enter the kingdom of Heaven.  God loves us and will forgive our sins if we repent and ask for forgiveness.  So......even though I can not explain how much God loves them and does not want them to lie,  in my classroom we start by admitting that we lied, say we are sorry, and I try to explain that it is not good to lie and that it can hurt feelings, make people sad, and get us in trouble.  These kids are my "kids" too!!  :)

Singing & Sorting

It is now officially a fact, the more I sing the more they listen, they love it!! Do you remember from Sesame Street years ago....the song "One of these kids is doing his own thing....one of these kids does not belong...." or something like that. (I think it was from Sesame Street, lol.) Who knows, maybe I made it up. :) Well, they loved it when I sang it for our sorting game. I told them who had to be the "different kid" in their group, and the rest of the students in the class would "sort" them! I couldn't tell you what was more fun....watching them and their actions or watching them laugh at my song!

Well..... with 3 years and two weeks under my belt in a Kindergarten Classroom, I think I might be ready to try out this blogging thing!! :)  It will be a learning process, but one I am ready to try.  After teaching 6th grade for 5 years and PE for 1, I am finally at home in my Kindergarten classroom full of Kindergarten Stars!
